What's Up Wednesday - 8.14.13

What's Up Wednesday is a weekly meme geared toward readers and writers, allowing us to touch base with blog friends and let them know what's up.

You can participate by going to Jaime's blog here. Or Erin's blog there.

This my very first What's Up Wednesday and I'm exciiiiited! Hello, hello, What's Up Wednesday-ers!

What I'm Reading

Maggie Steifvater's THE RAVEN BOYS and OH MY GOD is it good! I wish someone would have told me "you know this book is about cute rebellious boys who drive cool cars, right?" about six months ago.

What I'm Writing

Something that I'm slowly and quietly falling in love with. This hasn't happened in quite a long while for me so I'm keeping it close to the chest for the now. <3

What Else I've Been Up To

Settling back into work after a pretty awesome vacation to Key West. It's really strange opening the laptop and realizing you have to start all over again.

What Inspires Me Right Now

This gif of Channing feed a puppy is pretty much the greatest thing in my life right now. I have a thing for him, you know.

  4. Awww... I love that you're wiring something you're slowly and quietly falling in love with, it's such a great way to describe the writing process. And yes, The Raven Boys is incredible. I've been rereading it lately and it never ceases to amaze me just how awesome it is.

  5. We talked about hitting Key West this summer. It's only a 7 hr drive, and I'm sure it would be an awesome experience. Instead, we settled for a cross country trip to New Orleans, San Antonio TX, Roswell NM, Salt Lake City, and Nashville. Why are there so many awesome places to see and so little time?

(Scientists locked in my basement, I don't care which one it is, but you have to complete either the time-stopper or teleportation device NOW!)

  6. I loved Raven Boys when I read it right after it came out. But you waiting a little longer to pick it up means you wont have to wait as long for the sequel. I can't wait for The Dream Thieves.

  7. Welcome, welcome! So glad you joined us this week. :-) THE RAVEN BOYS is so, so good. And the best part? You don't have long to wait until Book 2. Always a bonus. And that's so exciting about your new WIP. Such a great feeling. Have a great week, Valerie!

  8. THE RAVEN BOYS! So good, right?! I can't wait to get my hands on THE DREAM THIEVES! I'm a little envious of your Key West vacation. I love it there, and I could totally use some fun in the sun. Best of luck with your writing project... I love what you said about slowly falling in love with it. What a fantastic feeling!

  10. I'm going to read The Raven Boys - I am. I am. I am!
I don't blame you for keeping your project close at heart. It feels safe there :)

  11. Need to read Raven Boys; so many books, so many books.

You know you can tell ME what you're working on... *wink wink nudge nudge*

  12. I have The Raven Boys audiobook. I have to get around to reading it soon!

It's great that you're falling in love with your wip. That's such a wonderful feeling!

Also, that gif is ADORABLE. I love Channing Tatum. He was a couple of blocks away from my campus filming a movie a few months back. Unfortunately, I had to go to class so I couldn't go watch him roll a tire up a hill but I'm sure that would've been a sight to behold.

I hope you're having a great week and welcome to What's Up Wednesday, Valerie! :)

    1. Ack! And that should be 'listening to', not 'reading' hehe.
