Hello, hello, What's Up Wednesday-ers! Hope you are having a gorgeous week!
What I'm Reading
I'm finishing up THE RAVEN BOYS and moving on to Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner's THESE BROKEN STARS. I'm super excited about this one.
What I'm Writing
Something that I'm still slowly and quietly falling in love with. I had a write-a-thon weekend and got a lot of word count down. You know how we rush to get count down and finish our MSs? I'm actually enjoying the writing so much I hope I never finish.
What Else I've Been Up To
What Inspires Me Right Now
Having the most amazing friends. The kind that tell you to keep writing and trying and dreaming and hoping. Specifically...
Kelly who has been the most supportive non-writer friend a writer could have, because she says things like, "Oh. Well, go write and I'll see you when you're done," and we both know that means when I crawl out of the Writers Cave and back into reality.
HayFay who has not only the best stories, but the most fantastic morning hair.
And Jodi Meadows who still loves me even though I threw a notebook at her face.
Lol at the last part about friends! Happy early birthday!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Fida! Have a great week :)
DeleteHahaha that notebook tweet cracked me up :) And your birthday plans sound pretty amazing! Lots of August babies around <3 (my birthday is August 18th :))
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your writing!
Lots of August birthdays! We were all so smart to be born around the same time. Happy birthday a few days late. Hope it was awesome.
DeleteHappy early Birthday! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteAlso this: "I'm actually enjoying the writing so much I hope I never finish." I LOVE it when my writing feels like that! Good for you!
Have a great week!
Thanks, Allison!
DeleteHappy early birthday.
ReplyDeleteFalling in love with you MS is the best. With each round of edits you discover new things about the character and the world.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! I really love writing this one, and keep telling myself, "there's no rush. There's no rush."
DeleteHave a great week!
I read The Raven Boys earlier this year, I loved it. I love it when you enjoy writing something so much you wish you'd never finish it, it's the best feeling :) Have a great birthday at the beach!
ReplyDeleteI really, really, really like The Raven Boys. Adam might be my new book boyfriend. :)
DeleteIt's great that you're really enjoying working on your MS - that's always a good sign! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Emma! Have a great week. :)
DeleteHappy early birthday! And beach day!
ReplyDeleteMorning hair is defnitely a good attribute. (I don't have that).
I don't have great morning hair either. I need lots of product and brushing and things. Haha
DeleteHappy early birthday, Valerie. Your plans for Saturday sound like perfection. I'm just a tiny bit jealous of your "What I'm Reading" section this week. I cannot wait to get my hands on both of those stories -- lucky you! Best of luck with your writing this week. I'm so happy to hear that you're still loving your project. :-)
ReplyDeleteWell, don't be too jealous. You're reading Second Chance Summer and I need to know how it is when you're done! ;)
DeleteHow did you find THE RAVEN BOYS? How did it compare to THE SCORPIO RACES (assuming you've read that)? I'm trying to decide which will be my first Stiefvater read, and I've heard good things about both these books.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday for Saturday, Valerie! I hope you have a great day, and a wonderful writing week. :)
Scorpio Races is AWESOME, too!
DeleteIt's awesome to hear that you're enjoying your WIP so much. Lately, I need to remember to quite rushing and just love what I'm writing, so thanks for the reminder! Hope you have an amazing birthday and get in lots of reading and relaxation at the beach!
ReplyDeleteI'm insanely jealous you got approved for THESE BROKEN STARS. I am sooooo itching to get my hands on it because it looks 'mazing! How was THE RAVEN BOYS? I didn't request it, though I've been reconsidering. Happy early birthday!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday and Happy writing! These Broken Stars has an amazing cover. I don't know anything about it and I'm dying to read it.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! The cover for These Broken Stars is so pretty. Good luck with your writing goals. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to go to Cape May, or just any beach. Now that I'm an adult, I miss how my family used to always go to Cape Cod and wish I hadn't stayed home the last few times they went.
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling of loving a book so much you're dreading coming to the end after all that emotional commitment.
Happy early birthday!
YAY for birthdays relaxing on the beach. Sounds fantastic! And I didn't realize Megan/Amie's book was out already!!! I need to get on that! Have a wonderful week of friends, birthdays, and writing.
ReplyDeleteI LOVED These Broken Stars. It's my favorite book of 2013, so I really hope you love it too!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday!
Hope you have an awesome birthday, Valerie! And thanks for the birthday wishes. :D :D I'm so envious that you're reading THESE BROKEN STARS. I'm really looking forward to that one! I think it's pretty fantastic that you're so in love with writing this WIP. Sometimes it can feel so tedious, so it's awesome when you find that story that is just a pleasure to work on. So cool!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and a great birthday! :D
